Bomba Israel is a volunteer fire company, located in the commune Ñuñoa of the City of Santiago, Chile and attends to emergencies in five communes of Santiago (Ñuñoa, La Reina, Peñalolen, Macul and La Florida).

Our fire station was created the year 1954 by the initiative of some fire fighters of the fourth Fire Company, who had the purpose of creating a new unit for the fire department, given the growth of the commune and who also wanted to bring together the efforts and contributions of the Jewish Chilean community to achive that objective.

By definition, Fire Departments, born under the principles of solidarity, tolerance and respect for the human condition, do not allow discrimination nor differenciation of any religion, race, social condition or ideological positions. However, also since the birth of the institution in the middle of last century, it was estimated that a group,not in any way exclusive, of people who recognize a single origin does not violate the egalitarian principles of coexistence, on the contrary ,it presents advantages for the better development of the units. Thus were born the so-called colonial fire stations. Throughout the country the German, English, Italian, Croatian, French, Spanish fire companies are recognized. But across the country there was no company that represented the Jewish Community of Chile nor the State of Israel. That emptiness was filled by the fire station, named "Bomba República de Israel" ("Fire Station of the State of Israel", or simply "Israeli Fire Station")

The support of the jewish community has been constant, not only in material donations but in the massive contribution of young people that has given the strength, prestige and efficiency to our fire station. Of the many contributions made by Bomba Israel to the fire fighters of Chile, should be emphasized the creation of the first Youth Fire Brigade in Chile, experience imitated throughout the country. Also Bomba Israel was the first fire company of the fire department of Ñuñoa that specialized in rescue, a specialty that is now vital in big cities such as Santiago.
